Botanical drawing, 16th C. Holland. From the 16th century collection of botanical watercolors of Theodorus Clutius, noted pharmacist and supervisor of the garden of Leiden University, Netherlands. These tulips are highly nuanced and document nature in an electric way. Embroidered on a black silk ground in fuchsia, turquoise, orange, yellow, red silk yarn.
