POLKA DOTS
Our Polka dot pillows are inspired by 19th century gold leaf textiles in India. Gold and silver leaf is used in Indian textiles as a decorative finish on fabric, an influence of the Muslim courts. This style of ornamentation is called “Roghan” where gold leaf printing is used as a substitute for elaborate embroideries. Polka dots are hand embroidered on canvas and silk in 17th century Ari technique.
